It's hard not to imagine the environments our very distant ancestors experienced when we summon tenets of biophillic design to create modern interiors. At which point, and how far back on the span of human evolution to we roll to summon inspiration? As a turn of phrase, one could simply capture the concept by saying - back to the time we lived in caves (approximately).

As I think of biophillic base point - my mind travels way back in time to people dwelling on the side of a mountain in structures carved partially by wind and some human intervention. The idea of such a setting is so disperate from the built environments and culture we know today - so much more connected to land, the essentials to survival, and community.

Biophillic design is a methodology that utilizes facets of the built environment (color, shape, light, sound) to ground our senses by invoking characteristics familiar to our primal senses. Doing so through biomimicry taps into our innate sense of safety which mitigate the stressors of modern life, or at least attempts to.

Workplace Cave Concept - inspired by linking the amenties of the modern workplace with the origins of our original environments - rustic caves. Does merging these outfits bring us closer to our roots? Tap into the benefits of biophlillic design?

The images were created using AI and I'm honestly delighted by the results. The mere practice of using ever evolving tech to conjure images meant to tie the environment to a very distant past is a treat on its own.
